Environmental Policy

Our vision is that Hufvudstaden shall control and develop operations to bring about a sustainable society from an environmental and climate point of view.

The construction and property sector accounts for a large amount of the climate impact, not least through the use of materials and energy. In Sweden, buildings account for about 40 per cent of energy use and about one fifth of Sweden’s greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing these emissions is a major challenge, but through collaboration and the development of new solutions, we in the industry can contribute to enabling the transition that is needed.

For us, a responsible and ambitious sustainability agenda is a factor for success and a prerequisite for continuing to conduct our business. We work actively on economic, environmental and social sustainability.

  • Reduce environmental and climate impact
  • Manage the Earth's resources
  • Minimize the use and emissions of harmful substances
  • Contribute to recycling materials and used products

Strategies to achieve the objectives

  • Ongoing training of employees in environment and climate issues
  • Maintain a clear environmental management system that assure a high level of quality
  • Apply the precautionary and management principle
  • As far as possible select environmentally adapted technology and environmentally labelled products
  • Prevent environmental problems and comply with current environmental legislation
  • Make clear environmental demands on suppliers and contractors
  • Co-operate with our customers and other partners in their environmental work
