Climate adaptation
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. With more extreme weather events, such as heavy rainfall, our properties must be adapted to withstand new conditions. We have worked extensively with climate adaptation and have carried out risk analyses across our property portfolio to better understand and manage climate-related risks. For several years now, all our properties have had individual action and development plans in place to better handle flood risks. Read more about our work with climate adaptation.
We build with the future in mind
Renovations and redeveloping projects have a significant climate impact, which is why we aim to build correctly from the start. The key lies in taking a long-term approach, where quality and flexibility allow spaces to remain functional and be adapted over time. History has shown that timeless, robust material choices and good design can extend a building’s life span and reduce the need for major renovations – something that shapes how we manage our properties today. For instance, there is parquet flooring that has been in some of our properties for more than 100 years – accommodating multiple tenants and business activities. With attention to detail, we preserve the history of our buildings while meeting the needs of the future.
To create the right conditions for timeless and flexible buildings, we are working on a property-specific standard. This standard includes building and material specifications that are to be used consistently, helping reduce the risk of unnecessary future renovations – while still offering attractive premises.
Green building certification
We certify our properties to ensure they meet sustainability criteria. An independent assessment verifies that the building meets requirements in areas such as energy, indoor environment, and materials – supporting our overall sustainability efforts. Our goal is for all of our properties to be certified by 2025, and we are well on our way. Read more about how we work with green building certification.
The Byggvarubedömningen assessment
To future-proof our properties and minimise the presence of hazardous substances, we also use Byggvarubedömningen – the leading industry tool for the environmental assessment of building materials in both construction and property management. We strive to use only environmentally assessed and approved building products. This allows us to build in a long-term and sustainable way – for future generations.
