At Hufvudstaden, we are committed to doing everything we can to reduce our emissions. Our focus is on doing more with less to contribute to sustainable development. This includes more efficient resource use, smarter refurbishment projects, and improved waste management.
The ongoing climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time, placing high demands on us to continuously reduce our emissions. The property sector accounts for a significant share of Sweden's emissions. We are therefore part of the problem, but also part of the solution by taking responsibility and acting.
Our climate targets
All climate targets are based on the 2024 base year.
Near-term climate targets for 2035
- Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 63 percent.
- Reduce scope 3 emissions in tenant adaptation projects 45 percent per sqm¹.
- Reduce absolute GHG emissions from scope 32² by 45 percent.
Long-term climate target for 2045
- Reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 90 percent by 2045.
The targets cover emissions from our own operations and parts of our value chain. Our efforts to achieve these targets include improving energy efficiency, reducing the climate impact of construction and refurbishment projects, and collaborating with suppliers and tenants.
About the Science Based Targets initiative
The SBTi is a global initiative that helps companies set emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science and the Paris Agreement. Through an independent validation process, the SBTi assesses whether companies' emission reduction targets meet its criteria.
