The SDGs form a global agenda for sustainable development. Their purpose is to achieve four overarching goals by 2030: To end extreme poverty, to reduce inequalities and injustices, to promote peace and justice, and to combat the climate crisis.
Hufvudstaden works with the SDGs and uses them as guidance in shaping our own sustainability strategy.
Priority goals:
We have identified several priority goals where we see the greatest potential to contribute.
Goal 3 – Good health and well-being
A healthy and safe work environment is a key factor in promoting people’s well-being. We place high demands on ourselves, our suppliers, and our partners when it comes to sustainability, environmental performance, and occupational health and safety.
Goal 5 – Gender equality
Our employees are central to our future success, and gender equality is an important success factor. We actively promote equality and non-discrimination, and we strive for a gender-equal organisation. Our HR policy supports us in creating a workplace where differences are welcomed and encouraged.
Goal 7 – Affordable and clean energy
We are continuously working to improve energy efficiency and promote the use of renewable energy. We have set ambitious targets to reduce energy use per square metre across our portfolio, and we follow up on our performance regularly.
Goal 8 – Decent work and economic growth
Hufvudstaden aims to be an attractive employer where people are engaged, thrive, and feel well. We are committed to ensuring a good and safe working environment – not only for our own employees but also for our tenants and those working in our construction projects.
Goal 11 – Sustainable cities and communities
Hufvudstaden takes responsibility for promoting environmentally and climate-resilient urban development. In collaboration with the cities of Stockholm and Gothenburg – and many of our partners – we help create sustainable, liveable cities where people feel well and flourish.
Goal 12 – Responsible consumption and production
We build and manage our properties with a long-term perspective. Our ambition is to create premises and solutions that remain attractive over time. In both new construction and renovations, we always focus on minimising energy use and climate impact – while still delivering attractive spaces.
Goal 13 – Climate action
Hufvudstaden invests in smart technologies and innovations to reduce the company’s environmental and climate impact. Our goal is to achieve climate-neutral property management. In construction and maintenance, we choose products with lower climate impact. At the same time, we are future-proofing our buildings to withstand the effects of climate change.
