Hufvudstaden tops GRESB international sustainability ranking

Hufvudstaden has retained its first place in GRESB’s international sustainability ranking and has been named “Overall Sector Leader” in the European “Offices and Trade” category.

The annual Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) evaluates property companies’ sustainability efforts, and this year Hufvudstaden scored 93 out of 100, compared to this year’s average of 73.

- “It’s fantastic that we’ve held on to our first place from last year, and even more fantastic that we increased our overall result by five points from 88 to 93 – proof that our systematic sustainability efforts are making a genuine difference. For Hufvudstaden, the GRESB is a great initiative that drives us forward in our continued development,” says Karl-Johan Wall, Sustainability Director at Hufvudstaden.

GRESB is a global index used by investors to compare and evaluate property companies’ sustainability efforts. The ranking is based on what investors and the industry consider to be the most important sustainability issues in terms of environment, social sustainability, management, and follow-up. This year, more than 1,500 of the world’s property companies and funds reported their sustainability efforts within the framework of GRESB.

- “Hufvudstaden has taken several important steps in its sustainability efforts over the past year. Among other things, we have launched a new green framework and issued our first green bond, which will help us achieve our goals such as making our administration climate-neutral by 2025 and that our property projects will halve their climate-impacting emissions by 2030,” says Karl-Johan Wall, Sustainability Director at Hufvudstaden.
